Hacked and Locked Out of Facebook? How We Saved Lizโ€™s Account

Imagine logging into Facebook to check your matesโ€™ holiday pics, only to find โ€œIncorrect Passwordโ€ staring backโ€”and then a lockout notice. Thatโ€™s what happened to Liz Hopkins, an Oxford local, when hackers hijacked her account. Posts about dodgy crypto scams flooded her timeline, and Facebook shut her out for โ€œsuspicious activity.โ€ Enter Phil at Computer Assistanceโ€”our IT hero who proved Liz was the real deal and got her account back in a flash. Hereโ€™s how we turned a digital disaster into a presto-perfect fix!

The Hacking Horror Story

Liz popped into our shop at 154 Oxford Rd, Cowley, in a panic. โ€œMy Facebookโ€™s gone rogueโ€”someoneโ€™s posting rubbish, and I canโ€™t get in!โ€ she said. Her password wouldnโ€™t work, two-factor authentication (2FA) was bypassed, and Facebookโ€™s security flagged her as a bot. Her account held 10 years of memoriesโ€”photos, messages, her book club groupโ€”and losing it felt like a gut punch. The usual โ€œForgot Passwordโ€ link? Uselessโ€”hackers had changed her recovery email. At Computer Assistance, Phil knew this was a job for the pros.

Philโ€™s IT Wizardryโ€”Step by Step

Phil didnโ€™t mess aboutโ€”hereโ€™s how he cracked it:

Step 1: Gather the Evidence: Liz brought her driving licence and a recent bill to prove her identityโ€”key for Facebookโ€™s appeal process. Phil dug up old emails showing her account creation date (2012) and linked phone number.

Step 2: Crack the Hack: He checked her deviceโ€”a 2019 MacBook Airโ€”for malware with Malwarebytes, finding a sneaky keylogger that nabbed her password. A quick clean-up zapped it.

Step 3: Facebook Appeal: Phil used Facebookโ€™s โ€œHacked Accountโ€ form (facebook.com/hacked), uploading Lizโ€™s ID and a detailed note: โ€œAccount compromised, recovery email changed, legitimate owner since 2012.โ€ He cross-referenced her IP logs from Oxford to seal the deal.

Step 4: Reset and Secure: Within 48 hours, Facebook emailed a reset link. Phil set a new password (โ€œOxfordLiz25!โ€โ€”strong, memorable), re-enabled 2FA with her phone, and added a backup codeโ€”just in case.
