20 Years Experience • All Makes • Specialist in Mercedes
At Computer Assistance, we don't just fix computers — we also specialise in modern vehicle electronics. With over 20 years of experience working on complex electrical systems, we provide expert diagnosis and repair of car electrical issues using the latest diagnostic equipment.
Full ECU fault code reading, live data analysis, and reprogramming on all major manufacturers, with specialist expertise on Mercedes-Benz models.
Modern cars are full of computers. We trace and repair complex electrical faults including wiring issues, sensor failures, and control module problems.
Particularly experienced with Mercedes-Benz vehicles (A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, ML, GLA, GLC etc.). We regularly work on Star Diagnosis and Xentry systems.
From VW, BMW, Audi, Ford, Toyota, Honda to luxury and performance vehicles — we handle electrical systems across the board.
OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics II) is a standardized system built into all cars and light trucks sold in the United States since 1996 (and in Europe since around 2001 as EOBD).
It allows the car’s computer systems (ECUs) to continuously monitor the engine, emissions control systems, transmission, and other key components. When something goes wrong, the system records a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and usually turns on the Check Engine Light (CEL).
Each trouble code is a 5-character alphanumeric code that tells you exactly what the car’s computer has detected.
Example: P0301
| Position | Letter/Digit | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | P | Category |
| 2 | 0 | Type (Generic or Manufacturer-specific) |
| 3-5 | 301 | Specific fault |
These define the exact fault.
| Code | Meaning | Common Causes |
|---|---|---|
| P0301 | Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected | Spark plug, coil, injector, low compression |
| P0171 | System Too Lean (Bank 1) | Vacuum leak, MAF sensor, fuel pump |
| P0420 | Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold | Faulty catalytic converter, O2 sensors |
| P0442 | Evaporative Emission System Leak (small) | Loose gas cap, cracked hose |
| P0700 | Transmission Control System Malfunction | Often comes with other transmission codes |
| U0100 | Lost Communication with ECM/PCM | Wiring, module failure, low battery |
