“WannaCry” virus spreads across the world

Over the weekend, you will have seen numerous reports of a wide-spread attack on infrastructure across the world by the new “WannaCry” virus. Hospitals, banks and organisations have been attacked by the virus that locks away all your data and demands payment to release it, commonly known as ‘ransomware’. This is a particularly dangerous virus as it is incredibly difficult to prevent the attack and almost impossible to decrypt the encryption once the virus has taken hold.

The most important thing you can do to make sure you don’t get affected is to be careful about email links. Do not click links/attachments in emails unless you are 100% certain the email sender is legitimate.

At Computer Assistance, we have the skills and expertise to prevent this virus from taking down your PC. Make sure you don’t lose all of your photos, music and documents and call us today. We have access to the latest decryption tools to get your data back quickly and easily wherever possible, as well as great anti-virus discounts thanks to our partnership with the best anti-virus software on the market.

Below is an example of the type of emails that hackers may use to infect your computer. Many of these emails pretend to be invoices or emails from people who sound familiar.
